Verona city

“In early March, I went to Verona for a long weekend and a taste of “la dolce vita”.

Located in the Veneto region of Northern Italy, Verona is surrounded by the hilly landscapes of the Valpolicella & Soave wine districts. It is a lively city, with the Old Town, as the picturesque centre for tourist sights, nightlife and shopping.

One of the most well known sights is the Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, home to its annual summer opera festival.

However, the reason behind Verona’s thriving tourist industry is Shakespeare’s play about the young lovers Romeo & Juliet.  Tourists flock to the city to visit the famous courtyard with a statue of Juliet and her balcony.

Verona is a compact and walkable city and is an ideal location to spend the weekend soaking up the Italian culture.”
