Whirling Dervish

SUN, SEA, SNOW & WHIRLING DERVISHES – by Alison

I experienced all of these on a 7 night tour of Turkey in April this year. I had an inkling that Cappadocia, being in the mountains of central Turkey, might be a little cooler than the coast, but I hadn’t expected 5 degrees, cold winds and snow…..with several layers of clothes to keep warm the snow actually added to the magic of the place. I had always wanted to see Cappadocia and it didn’t disappoint. The whirling Dervish show in an underground cavern was very moving. Cappadocia photo I then had a few nights at the coast in the sunshine near Antalya. I prefer a smaller hotels to the big all inclusive’s found in this area, but I wouldn’t have missed the visit to the antique city of Perga which plays an important part in biblical history and boasts a vast variety of archaeological discoveries. It was amazing!!! A lovely boat trip to a beach with lunch finished the trip off nicely. This was my first visit to Turkey and I have caught the bug!!!! Whirling Dervish photo
