MY HOLIDAY IN WALES by Olatz & Family

I am often told that there is no need to travel abroad as there are beautiful places to visit within the UK.  I can now certify that Wales is one of them. My husband and I had 6 days holiday to spend and we did not fancy all the paraphernalia of flying away for such as short period of time, especially with our two 5-year old boys!

We decided to go to Wales and did not regret it.

The scenery is just stunning (very similar to where I come from, The Basque Country, which made me feel very much at home) and there are so many day trips and places to visit!

We booked a mobile home in a Holiday Park in Camarthen Bay but decided to stop over at the Brecon Beacons for one night on our way.

The Brecon Beacons are very well known for their beauty and this is obvious as soon as you arrive. We stopped at a river bank in Brecon Town itself where we hired a pedalo boat and spent a wonderful hour on the river.  As we drove back to the cottage we went past lakes, mountains and the most stunning scenery.

The following day we headed towards the holiday park in Kidwelly (Camarthen Bay) and from our mobile home, if we looked right we could see a field full of sheep and if we looked left we could admire the sea, I guess this should suit all tastes!

From there on, we visited castles, caves, dinosaur parks, zoos, national parks and ended up stopping at what is considered one of the prettiest beaches in the UK on our way back home. Rhossili Beach, on the Gower Peninsula is absolutely beautiful. This 3 miles stretch of long sandy beach against a backdrop of cliffs (just bear in mind that to access the beach you need to walk for approx. 10 minutes down the path, not accessible by car), is well worth visiting.

If you are lucky with the weather, this is a place where you could definitely imagine you were on a beach in the Caribbean!
