CLIA RIVER CRUISE CONFERENCE – AMSTERDAM

CLIA RIVER CRUISE CONFERENCE – AMSTERDAM – 15th – 17th NOVEMBER 2014

River Cruising is now one of the fastest growing sectors of the Travel Industry so with that in mind, Hilary & Sharron set off for Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago.

After spending a comfortable night in the Movenpick Hotel, an ideal choice if your cruise starts in Amsterdam, we checked in for the Conference and prepared to learn a lot; and that is exactly what we did.

Top 10 reasons for taking a river cruise:

So much is included – food, wine, excursions etc.

Small & friendly – The size of the vessels is governed by the locks and bridges along the route.

A room with a view – All cabins are outside and most have large picture windows or balconies.

It’s so easy – just get on board, unpack and enjoy the scenery. Mostly you will moor in the heart of the cities you are visiting so you can walk ashore and see the sights.
Watch the world go by – Unlike sea days on ocean cruises, there is always a view of the town, village, city or countryside that you are passing through.

Modern living – Newer vessels are a million miles away from the older ships. Many have full balconies, large suites, free wi-fi throughout the ship and small speciality restaurants as well as the main dining room. One line even has swimming pools that transform into a cinema in the evening!

The world is your oyster – As well as cruises in Europe, there are exotic journeys on the Mekong, the Yangtze, the Ayeyarwady, the Mississippi and the Brahmaputra & Ganges. Not forgetting the Nile of course.

It’s smooth sailing –If you suffer from sea sickness, choppy seas are never a problem.

No need to fly – European river cruises are perfect if you prefer not to fly as it is so easy to take the Eurostar, connect to a high speed rail network and join your cruise.

Listen very carefully – the best river cruise companies provide you with Quietvox receivers and earphones so that you can hear what the guides are saying without having to crowd around them.

By the time we came home on Monday we had visited some amazing ships, experienced fantastic service and hospitality and can fully understand why this type of holiday appeals to so many people.

If you feel that you would like to experience all that River Cruising has to offer, please give us a call or pop into the shop; we can then look at all the different options to find the ship and itinerary that suits you best.
